Lissette Rivera is a longtime Downey resident, mother of four, small business owner, community advocate, and wife of a U.S. Navy veteran. 

 

Downey is more than the place she calls home, it is where she has raised her family, built her business, developed lasting relationships, and dedicated years to serving the community she loves.

 

For years, Lissette has shown that leadership is about showing up, doing the work, and delivering results. Her experience spans neighborhood advocacy, support for local businesses, city service, and regional efforts to protect families from the devastating fentanyl crisis. 

 

Each role has required countless hours, collaboration, persistence, and a willingness to step forward when her community needed someone to act.

 

Her record reflects a commitment that goes beyond words. She has built relationships, brought people together, advocated for families and businesses, and helped turn community concerns into meaningful action.

 

Lissette believes leadership should be measured not by titles, but by the work you put in, the people you serve, and the results you help achieve. That is the experience, proven record, and community commitment she will bring to the future of Downey.

A Business Owner Who Understands Our Community

As a small business owner, Lissette understands firsthand what it takes to build something from the ground up, create opportunities, and navigate the challenges that come with running a business.

 

As a former Ambassador for the Downey Chamber of Commerce, she also had the opportunity to work alongside local businesses and community leaders, gaining a deeper understanding of the people and entrepreneurs who help keep Downey strong.

 

These experiences shaped her belief that Downey should be a city where businesses are welcomed, entrepreneurs are supported, and City Hall works with the community, not around it. 

 

When our local businesses succeed, our neighborhoods, families, and entire community benefit.

Understanding the Services Our Community Counts On

As a former Citywide Public Works Committee Member, Lissette gained firsthand experience with the issues that impact our community every day, from streets and sidewalks to public facilities and neighborhood infrastructure.

 

That experience gave her a deeper understanding of the importance of listening to residents, addressing concerns, and making sure city government delivers results people can actually see and feel in their neighborhoods.

 

For Lissette, public service is about more than holding a position, it’s about showing up, listening, and working alongside the community to get things done.

TAKING ACTION AGAINST FENTANYL

Lissette Rivera is a proud, longtime Downey resident, small-business owner, former Citywide Public Works Committee Member, and proven community leader dedicated to serving others and putting people first.

 

As the wife of a U.S. Navy veteran and the mother of four, Lissette understands the values and priorities of Downey families.

 

As Co-Founder and President of WOLF (War On Lethal Fentanyl), she has led life-saving fentanyl awareness, prevention, and education initiatives in partnership with the Downey Unified School District, reaching thousands of students, their families, and school employees.

 

Lissette is running for City Council to keep Downey safe, support local businesses, and put our neighborhoods first.

 

Together, we can keep Downey safe, strong, and moving forward.

Lissette's experiences as a mother, business owner, advocate, commissioner, and community leader have given her a broad perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing Downey.
 

She is running for City Council to put that experience to work for District 4 — with a focus on delivering results, staying accessible to residents, and keeping community needs at the center of local decision-making.
